Join Pastor Phil Ballmaier of Calvary Chapel Elk Grove as he works his way through the Gospel of John on Sunday Mornings.

In Jesus' final hours He prayed to the Father for Himself, His Disciples, and all believers yet to come. These were the most important things on His heart and mind. What should be predominant in a believers mind? To love The Lord our God with our heart, soul and mind. A divine, dedicated love. We are to love a Supreme God, supremely. Jesus reminded us in His last hours how much He loved us. Will we show our love for Him? He loved us enough to lay down His life for us. He demonstrated it purely.

His Word promises, "draw near to God and He will draw near to you." But also we must examine our hearts continually to walk obediently. The Spirit transforms us to live out righteous lives. "Lord we desire that you are our First Love. Enable us Lord to love You supremely, walk obediently and bring You glory through our life for You. Pour out Your Spirit to enable us to walk holy lives."

Today Pastor Phil reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle. The enemy has one goal. To steal, rob and destroy. For a grounded Christian, we can use the tools that God has given us. The Apostle Paul spells it out clearly in the Book of Ephesians. Put on the Whole Armor of God. Be sure to check that out. But our greatest tool is being fully equipped, and that can only come by being in the Word of God—our greatest weapon against the enemy.

May we abide in Him, purpose in our hearts, and seek Him out completely, being washed by the power of His Word, and walking in the power of His Spirit. Fully equipped for every good work!

Today we continue in Chapter 17 in Part 15 of, "With Jesus Behind The Veil". John 17 is known as ‘the High Priestly prayer of Jesus.’ Jesus knew He was just a few hours from the Cross and set this time aside to go before His Father with the most important burdens on His heart. He prayed for Himself (verses 1-5), for His Disciples (verses 6-19), and He prayed for us | all future believers to come. (verses 20-26).

Today Pastor Phil shares how Jesus prayed that we, His disciples would be set apart, sanctified and holy as The Father is holy... How? Jesus says that we are sanctified by His truth—the word of God...  May we abide in Him, purpose in our hearts, and seek Him out completely, being washed by the power of His Word, and walking in the power of His Spirit. May we cling to His promises!

Today we continue in Chapter 17 in Part 14 of, "With Jesus Behind The Veil".

Today Pastor Phil shares how Jesus, in His final hours prayed. He prayed for Himself, for His 12 Disciples, and He prayed for us. Jesus prayed, "Father, please keep them..." Pastor Phil pointed out, “Keep them from defilement.” We are to be in the world, but not of it, or pursuing earthly things.

As we abide in Him and purpose in our hearts, we must plan our day by ‘going about our Father’s business.” Purposing to walk in His ways, be in His Word, spending time with Him.

The devil lurks about like a roaring lion looking for who he may devour. This includes believers. The enemy will try to attack our hearts and minds and draw us away, corrupting our walks and snuffing out our light for God.

May we live and walk on purpose! It starts in our hearts, in our homes and clinging to God, and His precious promises. He will enable us to walk in holiness and in The Spirit.

Today we continue in Chapter 17 in Part 13 of, "With Jesus Behind The Veil". John 17 is known as ‘the High Priestly prayer of Jesus.’ Jesus knew He was just a few hours from the Cross and set this time aside to go before His Father with the most important burdens on His heart. He prayed for Himself (verses 1-5), for His 12 Disciples (verses 6-19), and He prayed for us | all future believers to come. (verses 20-26).

In today's verses we see Jesus prayed, "Father, please keep them..." 1) eternally secure 2) from physical death 3) from divisions (or in unity). and to come 4) from defilement by the world. He was asking that The Father would "keep them in unity.” A perfect unity and true humility that only comes from The Holy Spirit. Unity in the Body of Christ is commanded.

As we abide in Him and in His love, seeking after Him in His Word, God will pour out His power in us to do this. To walk humbly, uprightly in our relationship with Him, and one another.

May He continue to equip us and empower us to do these things!

Today we continue in Chapter 17 in Part 10 of, "With Jesus Behind The Veil". John 17 is known as ‘the High Priestly prayer of Jesus.’

Pastor Phil asks the question, "How is Jesus glorified in us?" When sharing with those who don't know the God of the Bible, people may want to argue doctrine. But, there is no greater testimony to Him than a transformed life. What is our witness to the world? To our families? To our neighbors. To strangers? It's only by His grace, seeking after Him and studying His word that our lives are transformed and can be a light in the darkness. May He continue to work in us, for such a time as this!

Jesus knew He was just a few hours from the Cross and set this time aside to go before His Father. He prayed for three things. He prayed for Himself (verses 1-5), His Disciples (verses 6-19), and all believers yet to come to know Him in the future (verses 20-26). That includes us...

44. 2 Samuel 24:1-25 The Danger of Success
044-2 Samuel 24:1-25
The Danger of Success
Pastor Phil Ballmaier
7-2-17

The Book of 2 Samuel chronicles David’s rise to power as Israel’s second, and possibly greatest king in their history. His reign covered forty years (seven in Hebron over the tribe of Judah; and thirty-three years as king over all of Israel). David’s reign, although glorious, wasn’t free from controversy and shame. His sin with Bathsheba, the rebellion in his own family with regard to Absalom and his numbering of the people leading to God’s judgment were a few of the darker events of David’s later years as king.

Approximately half of the book tells of King David’s success and the other half shows his failures. Overall the Holy Spirit lifts David up in the pages of Scripture as a man after God’s heart—a man who loved God and never worshiped an idol. And as such he became the standard the Lord used to judge all the other kings of Israel and Judah by—the degree to which “they walked in the steps of their father David.”

    Book of I Samuel

Pastor Phil continues Part 2 on the topic of spiritism.

There is no doubt that everyone is searching for answers to the big question—who am I, and why am I here? Unfortunately man has a propensity to turn to unbiblical practices, with the impression that 'anything spiritual—is better than nothing'. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Biblical truth.

Some even turn to mediums or eastern practices to find answers. Beware - this is territory you do not want to meander into! King Saul is so adamantly opposed to seeking after God that he turns to a medium in En Dor for answers.

The Bible expressly warns us to flee from such practices.

God has given us the most precious revelation of His love for us by giving us His Word. It is timeless. It is pure. It is true and it is eternal and endures forever. It's His heart and love letter to us and the revelation of His character and attributes. It is God-breathed and inspired. May The Lord give us a renewed desire and a fresh pouring out of The Spirit as we cling to so great a treasure.

Join Pastor Phil Ballmaier of Calvary Chapel Elk Grove for this special message as he explores Psalm 37. God calls us to trust Him, dwell in His land of promise, and commit our ways fully to Him, and feed on His faithfulness. Our God is on the throne, even when those around us wish evil. We must remember that they have been taken capture by the enemy of their soul. As God's people, we are called to pray, and place our faith and trust in our Sovereign King.
