Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Chapter 2 of Romans.
God is holy and righteous, and our heart's desire should be to be more and more like Him every day... The Lord calls us to examine ourselves, and surrendering ourselves to the transformative power of His Spirit. We shouldn't compare ourselves to others as our standard. The only standard we should measure ourselves by is Jesus, our Righteous God. Each man or woman will be giving an accounting for his or her deeds.
Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world.
Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as

And our sin tends to look much worse when others are committing them. The Lord calls us to examine ourselves. Should we look to others and compare ourselves to them as our standard for righteousness? Indeed not! The only standard we should measure ourselves by is Jesus, our Righteous God.When we choose to look at others sins, we tend to be much harsher, condemning and judgmental. . The Apostle Paul brings it out here in Romans 2. There is only One Judge.. Keep in mind when you point a finger at others, you have three fingers right back at you! Today he touches on the act of water baptism. What it is, what it is not, and why Jesus wanted to be baptized by John the Baptist as an example to us. Unfortunately there are many different views on this essential doctrine when it comes to water baptism.Paul spells out clearly in today's verses (1:27-2:2) to express his hope for the Christians in Philippi and all believers to follow, unity in:1. ‘One spirit’—1:27
2. ‘One mind’—1:27; 2:2
3. ‘Fellowship of the Spirit’—2:1
4. ‘Like-minded’—2:2
5. ‘Same love’—2:2
6. ‘One accord’—2:2The Book of Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome, likely around 61 or 62 AD. It is one of the four 'prison epistles' that Paul penned while in captivity. He counted it a joy to allow God to work everything for his good—even imprisonment. Sadly men look to themselves, the stars, evolution and other humanistic or atheistic ways to explain why they are here—unfortunately their search is devoid of God. This leads to living a life in the flesh and looking to serve self and only its' pleasures. Tonight Pastor Phil will focus on these verses, and how turning from the natural reason that God created man and woman not only goes against nature, but God's perfect order.Right now our culture is in a gender and sexuality war, and we must be equipped to point those who are not living in the light of The Gospel towards God's truth—with compassion and love.Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'.
